Flight tickets costing Rs 9000 are now available for Rs 6000, this year before Diwali-Chhath Puja the fares were low, that’s why cheap tickets are available

A report by travel platform ixigo revealed that the average airfare on domestic routes in the country has fallen by 20-25 percent. There is a special reason for this.

New Delhi. Every year, flight tickets become expensive during the festive season, but this time it does not seem to be happening. There is good news for those going home by plane on the occasion of Diwali and Chhath Puja. In this festive season, the average airfare on many domestic routes around Deepawali has come down by 20-25 percent compared to last year. This information was given in an analysis.

According to this analysis, the prices have come down due to increased capacity and the recent fall in oil prices. A report by travel platform ixigo showed that the average airfare on domestic routes has come down by 20-25 percent. These prices are for the average one-way fare based on an advance booking date of 30 days. The time period for 2023 in the analysis is November 10-16, while this year it is October 28-November 3.

How much has the flight fare decreased

This year, the average airfare for Bengaluru-Kolkata flight has decreased by 38 percent to Rs 6,319 from Rs 10,195 last year. The ticket price on the Chennai-Kolkata route has decreased by 36 percent from Rs 8,725 to Rs 5,604. The average airfare for the Mumbai-Delhi flight has decreased by 34 percent from Rs 8,788 to Rs 5,762.

Similarly, the ticket prices on the Delhi-Udaipur route have decreased by 34 percent and it has come down from Rs 11,296 to Rs 7,469. This decline is 32 percent on Delhi-Kolkata, Hyderabad-Delhi and Delhi-Srinagar routes.

Reason for reduction in fares

Ixigo Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Alok Bajpai told PTI that last year around Diwali, airfares had shot up due to limited capacity, mainly due to the suspension of GoFirst airline.

He said additional capacity has been added this year, leading to a 20-25 per cent year-on-year decline in average airfares on key routes in the last week of October.
