Tata Trust’s new chairman: After the death of Ratan Tata, Noel Tata has been appointed as the new chairman of Tata Trust. Noel is the step brother of Ratan Tata. The board unanimously decided to make Noel the chairman of Tata Trust. In this way, now Noel will lead the charitable institutions of Tata Group. Ratan Tata played an important role in forming Tata Trust. Tata Trust has a 66 percent stake in Tata Group’s holding company Tata Sons. Tata Group is run by Tata Trust. This trust oversees philanthropic works.

Noel Tata and Ratan Tata are both sons of late Naval Tata, but from two different marriages. Ratan Tata was the son of Naval Tata’s first wife Sooni Commissariat, while Noel Tata is the son of his second wife Simone Tata, who is a Swiss businesswoman. Noel Tata has Irish citizenship. Probably the reason for this is his family’s global relations. However, Noel mainly works in India.

Took over the reins of Trent

Noel has served as the chairman of Trent, the retail arm of the Tata Group. Apart from this, he has played an important role in Tata International and other Tata ventures. Before joining Tata International, he worked at Nestle in the UK. Noel is credited with transforming Trent from a single store to a chain with more than 700 outlets across India. Unlike many in the retail sector during economic uncertainty, he prioritized profitability over rapid expansion at Trent Limited. Noel ensured that each store was financially viable before opening more stores.

Graduated from Sussex

Noel was born in Mumbai in 1957. He did his early education in Mumbai. After this, he went to England to do graduation. He graduated from Sussex University there. After this, Noel Tata also did the International Executive Program from INSEAD Business School in France.

Married to Aloo Mistry

Noel Tata is married to Aloo Mistry, daughter of the late Shapoorji Pallonji Group chairman Pallonji Mistry. Shapoorji Pallonji was a significant shareholder in the Tata Group. According to reports, in 2011, Noel Tata’s brother-in-law Cyrus Mistry was declared Ratan Tata’s successor. However, in 2016, Cyrus Mistry was removed from the post of Chairman of Tata Sons, and Ratan Tata temporarily reassumed the role for four months until February 2017. However, Natarajan Chandrasekaran is the current chairman of the Tata Group.

Noel-Aloo have 3 children

Noel and Aloo have three children, named Leah, Maya and Neville. Her marriage to Aloo Mistry strengthens the relationship within the Tata Group. It also reflects a mix of business and family ties. Ratan Tata’s younger brother Jimmy is also in this family. Jimmy Tata is also not married and lives alone. But Jimmy Tata, like Ratan Tata, has shares in Tata Sons and many other Tata companies. Maya is Noel Tata’s younger daughter. Maya worked at Tata Opportunities Fund. After its closure, Maya started working at Tata Digital. Neville is Noel Tata’s son. Neville works in a retail chain and his grandmother’s company Trent. Neville is married. His wife Mansi is the director of Kirloskar Technologies. They have a son.
