Air India has ordered 85 aircraft from Airbus for better operational efficiency. This includes 75 A320 series aircraft and A350 aircraft.
New Delhi: Ratan Tata’s priority has always been to provide better service to the people of the country. Even though he is no longer in this world, Air India, controlled by the Tata Group, is now preparing to fulfill his promise. The company has ordered 85 more aircraft from Airbus in view of its plans to expand its operations, which also includes 10 A350 aircraft. Sources gave this information. These people said that in the order of 85 aircraft given to Airbus, 75 are narrow-bodied A320 series aircraft while 10 are wide-bodied A350 aircraft. There has been no comment from Air India and Airbus on this development.
European aircraft manufacturer Airbus said on Wednesday that it has received orders for 667 aircraft till September this year. It received one of these orders for 85 aircraft on September 5, but it did not reveal the name of the airline. According to sources, this order of 85 aircraft has been given to Boeing by Air India itself.
Emphasis on increasing capacity after acquisition
Air India had ordered a total of 470 aircraft from Airbus and Boeing in February 2023. While placing orders for the purchase of 250 aircraft from Airbus, the airline had said that it would also have the option to buy more aircraft.
Sources said that Air India has exercised this option by ordering 85 more aircraft. Since taking control of Air India from the government in January 2022, the Tata Group has been trying to expand and restructure its operations.
This decision has come at a time when Ratan Tata left this world on 9 October. Tata Group had acquired Air India 2 years ago. Since then, Tata Group has been trying to change both the appearance and service of Air India.
